LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS IN INDIA’S MAJOR CITIES

The danger of the Omicron variant is looming big in India, with reported cases rising each day. It is advised that individuals follow COVID guidelines, wear double masks, and get vaccinated. Most of India’s major cities have imposed restrictions in order to curb the spread of the virus. Here are the current guidelines imposed by the major cities:

  1. Delhi
  2. In light of the escalating COVID-19 cases in the national capital, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) met to consider restrictions. If the COVID-19 positive rate in the national capital continues above 5%, a “red alert” may be issued under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). If a red alert is issued in Delhi, non-essential services would be shut down, and public transportation and public gatherings will be restricted. Since December 29, Delhi has been under a yellow alert. According to this alert, a night curfew is in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The national capital will be under a weekend curfew from 10 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday. Emergency services, individuals participating in such activities, pregnant women and patients seeking medical attention, those undergoing a Covid test, immunisation, and students taking examinations have all been exempted.
